State of Men UK Report

November 14, 2025

Global and national conversations about men gaining visibility: men’s health, men’s violence, boys education, men’s isolation or their retreat from gender equality and democratic ideals. Too often conversations are rooted in panic with partial information.

Building on the work of partners across multiple sectors and Equimundo's State of American Men report, Equimundo and Beyond Equality surveyed over 2100 men and women across the United Kingdom.

We asked about seven main areas: Gender Attitudes and Masculinity; Social Connection and Support; Mental Health and Well-Being; Political and Social Views; Online Behaviour; Romantic and Sexual Relationships; and Work and Economic Security.

The results: the study shows that most men find tremendous meaning in friendship, care, connection, and community in their lives.

Yet, driven by a search for purpose, palpable political distrust, and romantic disenchantment, many men in the UK are turning towards regressive, and even destructive, ideas of manhood and support for anti-democratic sentiments.

By asking the right questions and investing in the right solutions, we can tip the balance towards men’s care for themselves and others.
