About Beyond Equality
Beyond Equality works with men and boys towards gender equality, inclusive communities, healthier relationships and better mental wellbeing. We have a range of activities, centering on a range of interactive group workshops that have reached 100,000 people in schools, universities, sports teams, workplaces and community organisations, as well as research and expert advice, external communications and professional development training.
Our Values
Beyond Equality takes a positive and compassionate approach to working with men and boys, helping each person improve their wellbeing as well as finding their role in building a safer and more equitable future for others. We are an intersectional feminist organisation.
We realise change can require direct challenge to some engrained power structures and biases. We know that this challenge can be sensitive and destabilising, and is best handled with compassion and care. We take the same approach to our internal team dynamics, placing a high priority on mutual respect and support. We are evidence based, drawing upon best practice, collaborating with leading researchers from several fields, and always working to ensure our practices are as impactful as possible.
Our Sports Project Workshops
Our workshops are primarily run with groups of young men and boys aged 9-16 years old groups and our trainings are run with the trusted adults around them - coaches, youth workers, and PE teachers.
These workshops take a gender-transformative approach and can be delivered ‘in classroom’ and ‘on pitch’. They cover topics relating to masculinities, including mental wellbeing, healthy relationships, role modelling and allyship. Our rethinking of masculinities carries the dual aim of tackling VAWG and promoting gender justice.
As part of this project, our team primarily delivers workshops within professional football academies, communities around club foundation arms, secondary schools, primary schools, and youth centres.
The Roles
We are looking for two Senior Facilitators and Coordinators to join our Sports Project.
The Sports Project Senior Facilitator and Coordinator(s) will be responsible for the facilitation of impactful workshops and trainings, using Sports for Change (S4C) approaches, in Beyond Equality’s Sports project.
Alongside delivery work, the successful candidate(s) will support the ongoing and collaborative development of Beyond Equality’s Sports Project, with a focus on growing the Sports Project in line with S4C approaches. This will involve contributing to and supporting the design, planning and evaluation processes of the project.
You will also work with the Sports Project Manager to research audiences, create learning materials, test activities, pilot and review workshops, and evaluate impact.
The roles involve key project coordination responsibilities, including coordinating session logistics, managing stakeholder communications, and supporting project administration.
You will help maintain and evolve relationships with key stakeholders and audiences, both during delivery of workshops and trainings and when representing Beyond Equality at events and conferences. Across all activities, you will ensure that high standards of reporting, data collection and safeguarding are maintained.
Both roles will combine direct delivery and project coordination. However, each role will also have specialised responsibilities:
- Role 1 - Facilitator and Coordinator - Events and Network Building: Focusing on social media, outreach and events.
- Role 2 - Facilitator and Coordinator - Research and Learning: Focusing on focus groups, data collection and curriculum design.
IMPORTANT: There are two roles available, however you only need to submit one application. At the point of applying, your application is for both positions. If you have a preference for Role 1 or Role 2, please feel free to indicate this in your application email. During the interview, you will have an opportunity to discuss which role you are better suited to.
Our Ideal Candidate(s)
We are looking for someone who is experienced at facilitating workshops and trainings with single-gender groups of young men and trusted adults, and is comfortable supporting project coordination and logistics.
The ideal candidate is an organised team member who can hit the ground running. As this role involves safeguarding responsibilities, data collection and communication with partners, we’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented and committed to compassion, accountability and transparency.
You should be flexible, creative and committed to helping grow Beyond Equality’s Sports project. We’re looking for someone who is excited about contributing to the evolution of a project that has the chance to trial and test, and who is keen to develop their learning design and project development skills over time.
